Let’s dive in to a few of my favourite ways to integrate training to your daily life, so it’s easier for you to keep moving forward without adding hours of training to your already busy week.
Train on your walks
Why not sneak in some training while you’re out exercising your dog. Stop looking at your phone (we’re all tempted, I know 😊) and use this time for strategic training instead! It’s THE BEST way to integrate your training to your life.
Do some regular training stops that you stick to on every walk.
Train during TV time
Sneak in some quick and easy training during commercials while you watch TV. If you Netflix, sneak in training between episodes! Set yourself a goal and say you’ll do 1-3 session that night and stick to it. Tick each session off when you’re done.
Train while cooking or cleaning
For those calmer exercises like the bed game, I LOVE to practice these while I do things around the house. I simply pop the bed/crate in the same room and start for example emptying the dishwasher while rewarding my dog intermittently for staying on their bed.
I also love doing optimism games during this time. Pop a box with bottles and cans on the floor, put some food in there and watch your dog explore and learn.
